Students and their families who speak languages other than English are welcomed to Cincinnati Public Schools at the Welcome Center for English-Language Learners (ELL). When a non-English-speaking family enrolls in a Cincinnati public school, school staff schedule an appointment for the family with the ELL Welcome Center and requests the services of an interpreter as needed. The Welcome Center is designed to help English-Language Learners achieve high academic standards in English.
• Assist all Cincinnati Public Schools in meeting the needs of students who are English Language Learners (ELL) to assure their continued academic success
• Welcome Center conducts initial language screenings, completes parent notification letters, develops initial LEP accommodation plans, and assists parents with the enrollment process
• LEP Plan is developed based on proficiency in listening, reading, writing, and speaking English
